Movie Monologues
Most actors ask, "which
movie monologues
should I choose?" What they should probably be asking is whether a monologue from a film is appropriate for a particular audition.
The truth is that although famous movie monologues - check out our

- seem to be the most sought after on the net, they are not what you'd want to use in most auditions. Why?
If you're auditioning for acting schools, a monologue from a play
is usually required, so that the auditors can see that you have a good
understanding of character, motivation, given circumstances, etc.
TEST
- It's always best to audition with something that is "like" the
role/job you are pursuing. Therefore, if you're auditioning for a
theater job, a movie monologue wouldn't be a great choice.
- And then there's the fact that a famous movie monologue is - well
- famous. A whole lot of people have seen it, heard it, and could
probably recite it right along with you.
- As for movie auditions - there you're usually asked to read
from the script for which you're auditioning. A monologue from
another source is rarely required.
But if you love movies and think that's where you belong as an actor, we think you can and should use movie monologues to enhance your acting skills.
